Whitesands Bay, one of the many beautiful beaches in the area, carries the prestigious European Blue Flag Award. Other attractions are the Cathedral which was built in the 12th century and the magnificent ruins of the medieval Bishops Palace which attracts thousands of visitors each year. Also there are a variety of quaint shops, an outdoor activity centre, boat trips to the surrounding islands nature reserves and superb restaurants and cafes.

Solva is a beautiful picturesque village with a small sheltered harbour. It stands deep in a valley gouged out by water melting from glaciers which made it an ideal position as a base for trading ships in the 18th Century.
